Pocket Guide for Thermography – Your Practical Reference in the Field

“A picture says more than a thousand words”. In times of increasing energy prices and high costs for machine downtimes, non-contact temperature measurement is becoming a more widely accepted form of assessment in the field in many applications including industrial maintenance, building energy efficiency and electronics. However, not all thermography is the same and there are a few basic ground rules to be followed in non-contact temperature measurement.

The “Thermography Pocket Guide” handbook was created by summarising the questions raised by our customers on a day-to-day basis. This Pocket Guide is full of lots of interesting information, as well as practical measurement tips and tricks from various applications, and is designed to offer you, useful reference in your daily work.

Comprehensive Emissivity Table Listing

In the guide you can learn about the importance of emissivity, reflection and transmission, measuring guides as well as common sources of error in infrared measurement. How does the perfect Thermal image look like? … is something also described in this document. With a comprehensive emissivity table, listing commonly inspected materials, this pocket guide is a great reference for anyone starting out or refreshing their knowledge in Thermography.

Did you know? … a fun fact:

Thanks to their ability to see thermal radiation, pit vipers perceive enemies at lightning speed, even in the dark.

Pit vipers, a subspecies of vipers, perceive even the tiniest temperature differences of around 0.0003 degrees Celsius really quickly.

It is the highly sensitive “pit organ” located between the snake’s eyes and nostrils that enables them to do this.

This sensory organ allows pit vipers to see images which are very similar to those of modern thermal imagers.

Have fun reading through it!
