The temperature of an arc flash can reach 19,420°C, which is up to four times hotter than the sun. An arc flash can melt cables and busbars but is not just the heat that is dangerous – the light, noise, mechanical shock, and the resultant secondary risk exposure all make this a potentially fatal exposure.
